Three new properties have been protected! TRGT has purchased the 32 acres that contain the iconic Edwards Point atop Signal Mountain along with 2 additional tracts on Signal and Aetna Mountains. These land purchases total 281.5 acres of protected land in the Tennessee River Gorge that will remain as intact forests for generations to come. The work isn’t over yet, we need your help!
Our Goal
Our goal is to raise $1,150,000 to cover the costs of these purchases. Thanks to the diligent work of our current and past board members, staff, and supportive community, we were in a fortunate position to purchase Edwards Point and the additional 2 properties. With the help of our community, we can be ready to make the next important land purchase to continue conserving the Tennessee River Gorge. The donations to this land acquisition capital campaign are used only to support these land acquisitions. Thank you for your help and we hope you’ll get outside and explore these important places! Edward’s Point
This property was a 32-acre gap in the conservation landscape surrounding the Edwards Point and Middle Creek area. Now, the point, surrounding area, and Cumberland Trail are all protected by TRGT, Prentice Cooper State Forest, and the Town of Signal Mountain.
Signal Mountain Road
Have you ever looked at the vast expanse of forest when driving up Signal Mountain Road? A considerable piece of this forest has now been protected. For you Signal locals, it’s the view just before the Spaceship house when driving up the mountain.
Aetna Mountain
An incredibly unique and ecologically important feature rest on this new property. A large type of wetland called a fen is located in the heart of the property. This wetland provides unique habitat for a wide range of flora and fauna.
